1. OnePlus Nord Buds 3 Pro: best earbuds under ₹5,000

At around ₹2,800 on Amazon, these are the best-value earbuds you can gift this Diwali. They offer up to 49dB adaptive noise cancelling, 12.4mm drivers, six microphones for calls and an IP55 rating for sweat and rain.

OnePlus rates them at up to 44 hours of playback with the case (20 hours with ANC on), and a 10-minute charge gives about 11 hours with ANC off. There’s also a 47ms low-latency mode for gaming.

Best for: anyone who commutes by metro, bus or train and wants to block out noise.

2. Xiaomi Power Bank 5i 20000 67W: the most useful gift

A power bank is rarely exciting, but it is almost always used. The 5i launched in July at ₹3,499 and now sells for around ₹3,200. It can deliver up to 67W, which fast-charges most phones and is enough for many tablets and some thin laptops.

It has a built-in USB-C cable plus a USB-C and a USB-A port, and a small display that shows battery level. At 420g, it’s better for a bag than a pocket.

Best for: students, frequent travellers and anyone with a power-hungry phone. Our power bank guide has cheaper and lighter options too.

3. Fire TV Stick 4K Select: best for parents with an older TV

If someone at home still has a non-smart TV, this is a gift the whole family will use. Amazon’s Fire TV Stick 4K Select sold for ₹3,499 in Amazon’s festive sale. It plugs into the TV’s HDMI port and adds streaming apps like Prime Video, Netflix and YouTube, with 4K HDR on supported TVs and an Alexa voice remote that’s easy for older parents to use.

It needs a Wi-Fi connection and a free HDMI port. If the TV isn’t 4K, the cheaper Fire TV Stick HD (₹2,999 in the same sale) is enough.

Best for: parents and grandparents who want an easy way to watch shows and devotional content.

4. JBL Go 4: best portable speaker

The JBL Go 4 is small enough to clip to a bag, but it sounds fuller than most speakers this size. It’s rated IP67, so it can survive dust, rain and even a quick drop into water, and it lasts about 7 hours on a charge. It costs around ₹3,999 at Croma and other stores.

At 4.2W, it’s for personal listening, picnics and hostel rooms, not for a big Diwali party.

Best for: teenagers, students and anyone who travels.

5. Redmi Watch 5 Lite: best smartwatch under ₹5,000

The Redmi Watch 5 Lite is our top pick in our guide to smartwatches under ₹5,000, and it makes a great gift at around ₹4,000. It has a large 1.96-inch AMOLED display, Bluetooth calling, and built-in GPS, so it can track a run or walk without a phone.

Xiaomi claims up to 18 days of battery in typical use, and it’s rated 5ATM for water resistance. It works with both Android phones and iPhones.

Best for: someone starting a fitness routine, or anyone who wants their first proper smartwatch.

6. Amazon Echo Dot: best gift for parents

A smart speaker is one of the easiest gadgets for older family members to use, because there’s nothing to learn beyond speaking to it. The Echo Dot sold for ₹4,499 in Amazon’s festive sale. Alexa can play bhajans and old songs, set medicine reminders and alarms, read the news, and control smart plugs and lights.

It works in Hindi as well as English. It needs Wi-Fi and the Alexa app on someone’s phone for the first setup.

Best for: parents and grandparents who live alone or aren’t comfortable with smartphones.

Tip: Set up gadgets like the Echo Dot, Fire TV Stick or smartwatch before you hand them over, especially to parents. Connecting it to Wi-Fi and the right apps first makes it a gift they can use from day one.
