Samsung has launched the Galaxy F70 5G in India, a budget phone priced from ₹19,999 that brings a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS) and a Super AMOLED screen. It went on sale on October 20 through Flipkart. If it sounds familiar, that’s because it shares most of its hardware with the Galaxy A17 5G.

What’s new
Honestly, not much, and that’s the main thing to know. Tech sites including GSMArena describe the Galaxy F70 5G as essentially a rebadged Galaxy A17 5G. The screen, Exynos 1330 chip, 50MP OIS camera, 5,000mAh battery and IP54 rating are all carried over.
What still stands out at this price is the camera stabilisation. OIS is uncommon under ₹20,000, and it helps with sharper photos in low light and steadier video. The AMOLED screen also gives deeper blacks and better outdoor visibility than the LCD panels on many rivals, though its 90Hz refresh rate is lower than the 120Hz offered by some competitors.
Samsung India hasn’t clearly confirmed which Android and One UI version the phone ships with or how many years of updates it gets. Launch reports disagree on both points, so we’ve left them out until Samsung confirms. If long-term updates matter to you, check the Flipkart listing before buying.
Who should consider it
The Galaxy F70 5G suits buyers who want a reliable Samsung phone for everyday use, photos and video calls, and who value a good screen and stable camera over raw gaming performance. The Exynos 1330 is fine for social media, streaming and light games, but it isn’t built for heavy gaming at high settings.
Two close alternatives to compare:
- Samsung Galaxy A17 5G: almost the same phone. Its 6GB + 128GB model was listed at around ₹22,590 on Amazon in October 2026, very close to the F70’s ₹22,999. Buy whichever is cheaper on the day, after bank offers.
- Samsung Galaxy F70e 5G: priced from around ₹18,499, with a bigger 6,000mAh battery and a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chip. Pick it if battery life matters more than the OIS camera.
Tip: Flipkart’s festive sales often cut budget Samsung phones by another ₹1,000–2,000. If you don’t need a phone right away, keep an eye on the price for a week or two, and compare the effective price after bank offers, not just the sticker price.

The bottom line
The Samsung Galaxy F70 5G is a sensible budget phone with a sharp AMOLED screen, an OIS camera and a slim 7.5mm body, starting at ₹19,999. But it is very close to the Galaxy A17 5G, so don’t pay extra for the new name. Compare both on the day you buy, and wait for Samsung to confirm the software update policy if you plan to keep the phone for several years.
