What’s new

Cooling is the headline. Most phones rely on passive cooling. The Red Magic 12 Pro+ adds an actual fan spinning at up to 25,500rpm on top of a liquid cooling loop. The goal is to keep performance high during long gaming sessions instead of slowing down as the phone heats up. Despite the fan, the phone is rated IP68/IP69 for water and dust.

A full-screen 185Hz display. The 6.85-inch screen hides the selfie camera underneath, so there’s no notch or punch-hole to get in the way of games. The 185Hz refresh rate is higher than the 120Hz or 144Hz on most phones, though only some games run at such high frame rates.

Built for long sessions. The 8,400mAh battery is huge for a flagship, 120W charging refills it fast, and bypass charging lets the phone run directly from the charger while you play, which reduces heat and battery wear.

Gaming extras. Capacitive shoulder triggers with 700Hz sampling act like extra buttons in shooters and battle royale games, and RGB lighting on the back adds the expected gaming look.

Who should consider it

The Red Magic 12 Pro+ is for serious mobile gamers who want the best sustained performance and don’t mind a heavy, gamer-styled phone. Its cameras are decent on paper, but buyers who care mostly about photography will usually get better results from mainstream flagships.

If you’re in India, wait for Red Magic’s global launch details and check whether official sales and service support are available here before buying. And if you just want better gaming on the phone you already own, a few settings and habits make a big difference.

Tip: A fan and a big battery help, but heat is still the main enemy of gaming performance. Avoid playing while fast charging without bypass charging, remove thick cases during long sessions, and keep the phone out of direct sunlight.

The bottom line

The Red Magic 12 Pro+ is one of the most extreme gaming phones yet, with a 185Hz notch-free screen, liquid cooling with a fan, an 8,400mAh battery and 120W charging. It’s on sale in China from CNY 6,999, and a global version is expected in early November. Indian buyers should wait for official pricing and service details before importing one.
