iOS 27.2 Update Released: New Features and Which iPhones Get It

Apple has released iOS 27.2, the first big update to iOS 27 since it arrived in September. It became available around midnight on October 27, India time, and brings a more capable Siri AI, new suggestions in Messages and several app upgrades, along with bug fixes and security patches.
What’s new in iOS 27.2
The headline changes are for Siri AI, Apple’s upgraded assistant. According to Apple’s release notes, Siri can now:
- Remember past conversations, so you can refer back to something like a restaurant suggestion from last week.
- Use more of your information, including photos shared in Messages, people invited to Calendar events, voicemails, and your Safari history and Reading List.
- Stay out of chosen apps through a single new “Excluded Apps” setting that controls what Siri, Search and suggestions can see.
- Let you copy just part of an answer instead of the whole response.
- Speak more languages: French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish are added.
Beyond Siri, the update adds:
- Suggestions in Messages that turn a chat into an action, such as adding a dinner plan to Calendar.
- Better Shared Albums in Photos: edit captions and comments, avoid duplicate photos and get a reminder before an album expires.
- SynthID watermarks to help identify images made or edited with AI tools in Photos and Image Playground.
- Simple Profiles in the Apple TV app, giving each person at home their own watch history and recommendations.
- FaceTime support for adding a third-party sign language interpreter or live captioner to a call.
- Small changes to Podcasts (separate New Episodes and Continue Playing sections) and the Games app’s Friends tab.
- A refreshed Apple Music icon and look.
Owners of the new iPhone Duo foldable also get Apple Pencil support with this release.
Which iPhones get iOS 27.2
iOS 27.2 is available for every iPhone that runs iOS 27. Apple did not drop any models this year, so the list is the same as for iOS 26. Siri AI features, however, need an Apple Intelligence-capable iPhone.

What it means for iPhone users in India
Most of the non-Siri changes, such as Shared Albums, Messages suggestions, Apple TV profiles and FaceTime captioner support, are useful on any eligible iPhone. Apple notes that some features may not be available in every region or on every model, and that Siri AI is not offered in the EU or mainland China.
The new Siri languages matter less for most Indian users, who use Siri in English. Apple has not announced Hindi support for Siri AI, so don’t expect it in this update. If you own an iPhone 15 or older non-Pro model, you will get the app upgrades and security fixes but not the Siri AI features.
How to install iOS 27.2
- Back up your iPhone to iCloud or a computer.
- Connect to Wi-Fi and plug in the charger, or make sure the battery is above 50%.
- Open Settings > General > Software Update and tap Update Now.
If it doesn’t show up right away, check again later; it can take a little while to appear on every phone.
Tip: After updating, look for the new Excluded Apps option in Settings. It is a quick way to keep Siri and suggestions away from apps you consider private, such as banking or notes apps.
Also install the update even if you don’t care about the new features, because Apple says it includes security fixes. Keeping your iPhone patched is the simplest way to stay safe from known bugs.
