Samsung’s One UI 9 update, based on Android 17, is spreading to more Galaxy phones in India. The Galaxy M47 joined the list this week, and Samsung has also published an official list of phones and tablets that will get the update, so here is where things stand for Indian owners.
What happened
On October 23, 2026, Galaxy M47 owners in India started getting the stable One UI 9 update (firmware M476BXXU3BZJ1), according to Beebom and posts on the Samsung Members community. It is one of the first mid-range Galaxy phones in India to get Android 17.
On the same day, Samsung Japan published an official list of Galaxy phones and tablets that will receive One UI 9, as reported by The Hans India and iTechify. Samsung says the list is not complete, so a missing model is not automatically excluded. Samsung has not published a separate India schedule yet.
Which Galaxy phones have it in India
The update has been reaching India in waves since late September. Many of these first rollouts went to One UI 9 beta testers before everyone else, so not every owner gets it on day one.
| Galaxy model | Stable One UI 9 in India |
|---|---|
| Galaxy S26, S26+, S26 Ultra | From September 29, 2026 |
| Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Ultra | From October 6, 2026 |
| Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7 | From October 6, 2026 |
| Galaxy S24, S24+, S24 Ultra, S24 FE | From October 12, 2026 |
| Galaxy Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6 | From October 13, 2026 |
| Galaxy M47 | From October 23, 2026 |
Dates are when the rollout started in India, based on reports from SamMobile, Sammy Guru, Tech Times and Beebom.
Which phones are next
Samsung’s official list also names the Galaxy S23 and S23 Ultra, Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5, and the Galaxy A57, A55, A54, A36 and A25. On tablets, it includes the Galaxy Tab S11, Tab S10 and Tab S9 families, the Tab S6 Lite (2024), Tab A11 and Tab Active 5 Pro.
The Galaxy S23 series, A36 and A56 started getting stable One UI 9 in Europe and Indonesia around October 19 to 21. India is expected to follow for these phones, but Samsung has not confirmed a date. For the S23 series, this is likely its last big Android version upgrade, though security updates will continue.
What changes on your phone
One UI 9 is not a full redesign, but it brings useful changes. Samsung’s changelog lists these:
- A more flexible Quick Panel. You can resize and move the brightness and volume sliders and the media player, and the sound mode button gets its own spot.
- A blue location indicator. It shows at the top of the screen when an app is using your location, and you can tap it to see which app.
- Game Booster tweaks. You can change the screen resolution and screenshot format while playing.
- Samsung Notes and DeX updates, including a new Tape tool that hides parts of a note until you tap it.
- Accessibility additions such as Text spotlight for enlarging text and Select to speak.
Some Galaxy AI features vary by model, so older or cheaper phones may not get everything.
How to get the update
- Back up your phone using Samsung Cloud or Google One.
- Charge it to at least 50% and connect to Wi-Fi.
- Go to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
- If nothing shows up, check again after a few days. Samsung rolls out updates slowly to catch bugs early.
Tip: If you are moving from One UI 8.5, the full download can be around 3 to 4 GB, so free up some storage first. After installing, give the phone a day or two to settle. Battery life often looks worse for the first day while the phone re-optimises apps in the background.

The bottom line
If you own a Galaxy S26, S25, S24, Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6 or M47 in India, One UI 9 should already be available or arriving soon, so check your software update settings. Owners of the S23 series and newer Galaxy A phones are next, but Samsung has not shared India dates yet. The update is free, and it is worth installing once it reaches your phone.
