OnePlus ColorOS 17 Update Rolls Out in India: Which Phones Get It and When

OnePlus has started rolling out its Android 17 update in India, and it arrives as ColorOS 17 instead of OxygenOS. The OnePlus 15 and OnePlus Pad 4 are first in line, almost a week earlier than the October 29 date OnePlus had announced, with more phones and tablets following through early 2027.
What happened
On October 23, 2026, OnePlus began pushing the stable ColorOS 17 update to the OnePlus 15 in India, and the OnePlus Pad 4 is in the same first wave, according to OnePlus community posts reported by 9to5Google, Beebom and The Tech Outlook. The update is based on Android 17 and is rolling out in phases, so not every unit gets it on day one.
This is also the first big update since OnePlus confirmed in July 2026 that OxygenOS is being phased out. All eligible OnePlus devices are moving to ColorOS, the software used on OPPO phones, starting with Android 17. India is getting the update first, and OnePlus has not shared dates for other regions.
What changes on your phone
ColorOS 17 looks and feels different from the OxygenOS you are used to. The main changes OnePlus has listed include:
- A new “Living Flow” design with translucent layers, smoother animations and a redesigned Quick Settings panel with round toggles and a new media player.
- New lock screen clocks and home screen widgets.
- More AI tools, including OnePlus AI Mind Space and Mind Pilot, AI photo and file organising, and an improved AI Translate app.
- Call safety features such as AI-based scam call detection.
- A new rendering system that OnePlus says uses less memory and keeps more apps open in the background. These are the company’s own figures, not independent tests.
A normal over-the-air update keeps your apps and data, but the look of menus and settings will change, so expect a short learning curve.
Which OnePlus devices get it and when
OnePlus India has shared this schedule. Dates after October are windows, not exact days, and a phased rollout means your phone may get it a little after the date listed.

If your model is not in this list, it is not confirmed for Android 17. OnePlus has said older models outside the Android 17 plan will keep getting maintenance support on their current software.
Do you have to switch?
OnePlus said in July that moving to ColorOS is optional for existing owners and that people who update will be able to roll back to OxygenOS, with the exact rollback versions to be shared later. OnePlus has not yet published those rollback details, so treat going back as possible but not yet proven. If you depend on your phone for work, there is no harm in waiting a week or two for early bugs to be fixed.
How to get the update
- Open Settings, then go to System and update > Software update.
- If ColorOS 17 shows up, download and install it.
- If it does not appear yet, wait. OnePlus releases updates in batches, and your phone will be offered it in the coming days.
Tip: Before installing, back up your photos and chats, connect to Wi-Fi (this is a large download), and charge your phone to at least 50%. The first day after a big update, the phone may feel warm and the battery may drain faster while it re-optimises apps. That usually settles within a day or two.

The bottom line
ColorOS 17 is now rolling out in India, starting with the OnePlus 15 and Pad 4, with the OnePlus 13, 13s and 15R next on October 30 and Nord and older models through early 2027. It is a big visual change because OxygenOS is going away, but OnePlus says switching is optional.
